Nelly Furtado: 'Women are taking over..

Nelly Furtado has expressed her opinion that 'women are taking over' the music world. In an interview with Stylist Magazine, the 31-year-old singer reckoned, "There are a lot of good women out there doing their best and working really hard. "Rihanna, Katy Perry. And I think Lady GaGa's changed the business - she's amazing. She's reminded people that performance can be so much more, so many different levels. She's a true art lover." She added, "For sure I think women are having this renaissance. We're taking over again, like hundreds of years ago before the witch-hunts."...

Canadian singer Nelly Furtado said she plans to keep "making music until I die"

Canadian singer Nelly Furtado said she plans to keep "making music until I die".

The 30-year-old star recently released her new album Mi Plan, which has been sung entirely in Spanish.

Nelly is currently living in Toronto with her husband Cuban sound engineer Demacio Castellon and her three-year-old daughter Nevis.

She said to British newspaper the Daily Mail: "I got married a year ago, and I enjoy keeping my life simple. I tend to stay out of the spotlight, and this album says a lot about where I am now. It's all about enjoying your life.

"But I've also got a strong work ethic. I had to learn about hard work from an early age, so I always keep my eyes on the prize. My upbringing has given me my focus, drive and ambition.

"My aim is to be making music until I die, even if it's only for my mom."

Nelly Furtado was "inconsolable" when Oasis split

Singer Nelly Furtado has admitted she was "inconsolable" when British band Oasis split.

Nelly, 30, was a big fan of the Brit band, made up of members including the warring Gallagher brothers.

She said: "I was inconsolable when Oasis split up. That band meant the world to me.

"As a 16-year-old, I would write letters to Liam with my photo attached and pray that he would ask me out on a date, but he never did.

"At college, I learned to play guitar to Wonderwall. Oasis were everything I loved about pop music. They could express emotions with the most simple song structures.

"They had the kind of brash attitude I could completely relate to."
