MONICA BELLUCCI JOINS TERRY GILLIAM'S BROTHERS GRIMM Brothers Grimm is about two con artist brothers, Will and Jake Grimm (played by Damon and Ledger) who try to fool local villagers with their own brand of protective magic Visit Phil Stubs' very nice Brothers Grimmpage. Phil was in Prague recently to visit with Gilliam on the Brothers Grimm set Photo credit: Francois Duhamel Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded,Brotherhood of the Wolf) has joined the cast of Terry Gilliam's Brothers Grimm, according to the September 26 issue of Variety. The $75 million dollar project began shooting in Prague, Czech Republic on June 30. The Italian actress will play an evil queen who has found eternal life but not eternal beauty. She turns to the forest in order to procure the young virgins whose blood she needs in order to maintain her youthful countenance. After Nicole Kidman withdrew from the project (due to scheduling conflicts), Bellucci was recruited for the role. The film stars Heath Ledger and Matt Damon star in the titular roles of Jake and Will Grimm. Jake and Will travel the Napoleonic countryside pretending to protect villagers from fake monsters and demons in exchange for cash. The French government discovers what the borthers are up to and force them to deal with a bona fide magical force committing murders in the northern woods between Germany and France. Brothers Grimm also stars Jonathan Pryce (Brazil, Baron Munchausen), Lena Heade (Aberdeen, Ripley's Game), and Peter Stormare (Fargo, Bad Company). Gilliam is directing the comic fantasy from a script by Ehren Kruger (The Ring). Brothers Grimm is currently shooting in Prague, Czech Republic. The film, co-produced by Dimension and MGM, is scheduled to wrap in mid-November and debut in theaters sometime in 2004.
