Salman Khan in media

Salman’s cameo in Tanu Weds Manu edited

This is one piece of news that Salman Khan is certainly not going to like. It is learnt that his cameo in the forthcoming romcom, Tanu Weds Manu has been edited out of the final cut. This comes as a surprise because he is one of the most sought after stars in the industry today, especially after the hit Dabangg. Buzz is that producer Boney Kapoor asked director Anees Bazmee to flesh out his smaller role in No Entry to that of a main lead in the film’s sequel.

An insider associated with the R Madhavan-Kangna Ranaut movie says that Salman’s edited scene is a result of his fallout with Ranaut. Interestingly, this is not the first time problems have crept up between the two. “After Kangna had expressed her wish to act opposite Salman, he planned to cast her in his home production to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. But when she couldn’t make it to the charity event for his Being Human Foundation last year, he was very upset with her,” says our source.

Fortunately for Ranaut, Khan didn’t hold a grudge against her for too long, like he is known to with Shah Rukh Khan, Vivek Oberoi and John Abraham. In fact, Tanu Weds Manu team promoted the film on Bigg Boss 4 only at the behest of Khan, who was hosting the show.

However, the relationship between Ranaut and Khan seems to be going through a rough patch yet again. “Salman plays one of the prospective grooms to Tanu (Ranaut’s character in the film). But his cameo was nowhere to be seen in the film’s final cut,” reveals our source.

Director Anand Rai explains, “We were planning something which we wanted to keep under wraps till the film’s release. But now the surprise element is lost. Only big banners can manage to keep their surprise elements well under wraps.”

When asked about Khan’s missing cameo, the filmmaker maintained that there was no problem between the star and his leading lady. On being pointed out that Khan was upset with Ranaut when she didn’t attend his Being Human charity event, the director insisted that all is well between the two actors. However, our source reveals, “Kangna not featuring in Salman’s home production anymore is evidence enough that there is some problem between them again.
