Nicole de Boer

Nicole de Boer (born December 20, 1970) is a Canadian actress, best known for her roles asEzri Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine from 1998 to 1999 and as Sarah Bannerman on The Dead Zone from 2002 to 2007.

Career

 

Despite being a shy youth, de Boer started acting at a young age, auditioning for and landing the lead in a school production of The Wizard of Oz. Her television debut was an uncredited role in Freddy the Freeloader's Christmas Dinner, which starred Red Skelton, Vincent Price, andImogene Coca. de Boer's first major television work was a re-occurring role on the Canadian sketch comedy show The Kids in the Hall as Laura, the on again/off again girlfriend of Bobby Terrance (Bruce McCulloch). She subsequently appeared (as a different character) in their 1996 film Brain Candy.

Her first major TV role came in 1997, in the short-lived Sci-Fi Channel series Deepwater Black(also known as Mission Genesis) as Yuna. She followed that up with a role in the low-budgetscience fiction film, Cube (1997). She has also been featured in episodes of the Canadian produced SF series The Outer Limits.

de Boer's most noted roles have been Ezri Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (seventh season, 1998–1999), and Sarah Bannerman on The Dead Zone, which was cancelled in December 2007 after season 6.

She was also cast as Dr. Alison Porter in the SciFi channel series Stargate Atlantis, her character making her first appearance in the fifth season episode "Whispers". Stargate actorDavid Hewlett, who played character Rodney McKay, also starred in Cube. She was also in Poltergeist the Legacy the crystal scarab episode.

Personal life

De Boer was born in Scarborough, now part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Dorothy and Ted de Boer. She is married to musician John Kastner. They have one child.^{[citation needed]}
