Miss Universe 2005
Holds a degree in marketing and information technology management from Ryerson University in Toronto.
She was the subject of a feature profile in the Eyeopener, a Ryerson University campus newspaper, when she was starting out as a model and contestant. When she won the Miss Universe title in June of 2005, Eyeopener staff put a congratulatory note on the newspaper's website saying they owed her a beer.
Misinterpreation of a rarely-invoked Toronto by-law that explicitly rules out beauty contests in the city's Nathan Phillip Square prevented her from dedicating a Thai festival as Miss Universe in the summer of 2005. Mayor David Miller later apologized.
