Rimi Sen (Bengali; born 21 September 1981) is an Indian actress who appears inBollywood films.
Biography
Sen was born as Shubhomitra Sen in Kolkata, West Bengal. Rimi completed her schooling from Bidya Bharati Girls' High School in the year 1998.
In 2006 Sen made racist comments about black African people in an online interview about a film, saying, "I play a sweet and beautiful girl in the film. The best thing that I like about the film is that though it has four heroes, I am the only heroine. Rohit Shetty is amazing as a director. He can make even a black African look pretty." Sen's comments were condemned by human rights and anti-racism organisations in India and abroad and has not apologised for her comments.[1]
Career
Rimi's debut film, Hungama, released in 2003. It is a comedy film, in which she co-starred withAkshay Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani, Paresh Rawal, as well as other actors.
Her last release was Sankat City in 2009. She appeared in "De Taali" in 2008. In 2007 she appeared in Johnny Gaddaar alongside newcomer actor Neil Nitin Mukesh. She also had a cameo in 2006 film Dhoom 2.
Rimi is currently going by the screen name Rimmi. She explains the name change as a career move: there are many other Sens working in Bollywood right now, and a single name may help her stand out from the crowd and stay apart from others.
