Shatrughan Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha (born 9 December 1945[1] PatnaBihar) is an Indian film actor and politician.





Acting career


Soon he graduated playing villainous roles in many movies and portrayed stylized villains. One of his first role as a hero was Dulal Guha’s "Dost" in 1974. His movie Kalicharan in 1976 established him as a hero.Shatrughan Sinha came to Mumbai, after getting Diploma in acting from Film and Television Institute of IndiaPoona. His first acting opportunity was a small role of a police constable in Mohan Sehgal’s Sajan in 1969. He played supporting roles in many films but real blessing for him came through Gulzar’s Mere Apne in 1971.
Shatrughan Sinha was selected by Rediff as one of the most unconventional actors in Hindi Cinema (the others being Ajay DevganAmitabh BachchanIrfan KhanRajnikantShahrukh Khan, and Sunil Shetty).[2]
In 2008, he joined as a judge for The Great Indian Laughter Challenge show, Season 4 on STAR One TV. Where He and Cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu were the judges of the show.
On 3 October 2009, Shatrughan Sinha appeared on Sony Entertainment Television Asia Show Dus Ka Dum Season 2 hosted for a special episode.
He recently portrayed Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao in Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Charitra. For the first time in his career he has shaved off his moustache for this role.

During Bofors scandal days in late 1980s he got interested in politics and supported VP Singh’s movement and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.[when?]
Sinha won the Indian general election from Patna Sahib in Bihar. He defeated another cinema celebrity Shekhar Suman. Out of a total of 552,293 votes polled, Sinha received 316,472 votes.
He become a cabinet minister with the Government of India in the 13th Lok Sabha, holding two portfolios, the department of Health and Family Welfare, and the department of shipping.[when?] He is currently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and campaigns for the party all over India. As of May 2006, he has been appointed as the head of the BJP Culture and Arts Department.

Shatrughan Sinha is married to Poonam Sinha and they have a daughter Sonakshi Sinha, a model and actress, and twin sons Luv Sinha, an actor and Kush Sinha.
