Monica Bellucci insists you don’t have to have children “to be a real woman”

SHE gave birth to her second daughter Leonie last year but screen siren Monica Bellucci insists you don’t have to have children “to be a real woman”.

The Italian actress, who is married to French actor Vincent Cassel, says being a mother gave her a totally different view of life, telling Tatler: “You are ready to do everything without getting anything back.”

Monica, 46, says she did not feel ready for children until her late 30s. She had her first child Deva, now six, at the age of 40. Despite describing her experience of motherhood as “beautiful”, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice star doesn’t recommend that other women necessarily follow her example.

“Look, I don’t know if it’s so intelligent to have children at this age,” she says. “I don’t want to be an example to women because I was lucky. I know a lot of women who try later in life and it doesn’t work.

“I don’t think to be a woman you have to have children. I have many friends who don’t have children and are very satisfied.”

Why should Robert De Niro be this lucky? He’s signed on to be in Manual of Love 3, the third chapter in an Italian romantic drama/comedy series. That’s odd enough, but he’ll be playing an American professor who is the love interest of Monica Bellucci. If there’s a stranger pairing I’m not sure I can think of it right now. After the break, Barry Levinson’s son hires Thomas Haden Church and Martin Landau, and Charisma Carpenter books an indie thriller.

Barry Levinson may be making his eco-thriller The Bay, but his son Sam Levinson is also working on a picture, and it now has an interesting cast. The Reasonable Bunchnow boasts Thomas Haden Church, Martin Landau and Ezra Miller, all of whom just came aboard to join Kate Bosworth, Ellen Barkin, Ellen Burstyn and Demi Moore. The film is about ” two reckless siblings (Bosworth and Miller) who are dragged to a chaotic family wedding by their overwrought mother (Barkin).” Landau and Burstyn play the family’s grandparents. And we’ve got scant detail on Crash Site, an indie thriller that now has Charisma Carpenter starring. The film is about “a family vacation in the woods, during which a couple must fight their way back to civilization through injuries, creepy critters and wild animals after their Jeep crashes.” Carpenter is one half of the couple; her beau is played by Ty Olsson. Jason Bourque is directing in Vancouver right at this very moment.

Quick, quick -- what's Italian for "Dear God, please let us look this good when we're 46"?

Italian actress Monica Bellucci proves that 40 really is the new foxy by posing in a red-hot swimsuit for the cover of Australian men's magazine Men's Style, the Daily Mail reports.

Donning a retro one-piece that highlights her ample curves (watch your back, Christina Hendricks), the 46-year-old mother of two looks drop-dead gorgeous as she emerges from a swimming pool.

And did we mention that she gave birth just five months ago? Hate her. Good for her!

Even more amazing is the fact that the Martini Gold model doesn't exercise.

"It's impossible with my kind of life," she tells the magazine.

"Get up at 5am to get to a gym and then be on set at six? Impossible!

"So instead of going to the gym I dress in black. A lot more practical, and much more fun."

Oh, if only it were that easy...

Monica Bellucci joins Robert De Niro on set

After completely some extensive work on his own, Robert De Niro was joined on location by his curvy co-star Monica Belluci in Rome, Italy on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010. They are working on their latest project entitled, Manual of Love 3, the third and final film in the Giovanni Veronesi series.

While most people would be quite pleased to have a screen legend like Robert De Niro shooting in their neighborhood, it seems that the people of Rome are being inconvenienced by large disruption it is causing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Italian press is calling all the complaints a “revolt.” Things have gotten so bad that police officers had to be called in to cover the area and keep the complaints at bay.

I guess I could relate, when Bad Boys 2 shot here in Miami people were so angry when a major highway had to be shut down during rush hour traffic. So De Niro or no De Niro, it might be inconveniencing people who are just trying to get to work.

Mr. De Niro is playing the role of an American professor who falls in love with his colleague played by the beautiful Bellucci.
